Volunteer
Recognized at Picnic
.
Greensburg During the recent picnic luncheon, held
by Westmoreland Association of Volunteer Administrators (WAVA)
at Keystone State Park, Eileen Boyle was recognized for her volunteer
efforts in the Westmoreland County area. Eileen from Youngwood
stands out because of her willingness and eagerness to help not
only her fellow staff, but her genuine desire to help individuals
often in a crisis situation. She began volunteering with
the APPRISE program through the Retired Volunteer Senior Program
(RSVP) in 2008. APPRISE counselors provide Medicare and
health insurance counseling services. She completed state training
and attended monthly training programs to keep abreast of Medicare.
Initially, Eileen volunteered only once a month, where she answered
calls from throughout the state. She began to volunteer
more and more, including referrals that are usually quite involved
and often requires her to meet with the individual, personally.
Amy Halula, RSVP Project Director, nominated her because she
made quite an impact in the APPRISE program and with the lives
of the people she interacts with.
WAVA encourages and recognizes volunteerism throughout Westmoreland
County and currently has over 65 member agencies. These
agencies depend on volunteers to provide a variety of programs
addressing community issues such as: hunger, seniors, disaster,
crisis, environment, health, children & youth, arts, literacy
and animals. Please visit www.volunteerwestmoreland.org for more information
about volunteering opportunities and WAVA.
